This is the not very authentically robed shepherd that goes with the nativity project Sis posted to the web site this week. I've been working on these guys for a couple of winters. They are not difficult and can be as simple or fancy as you want them. I have just been taking my time about it. Haven't gotten to the animals yet, but I will... someday! lol I used the 7 & 3.5" squares for these guys. If you're ambitious, you would use the bigger looms. It's 20 degrees here this morning. Hope you're staying warm!

First Real snow.

It wasn't the storm the Wizards predicted, but it was enough to start with. We got 3-4", plenty for the Thanksgiving weekend visitors to make memories with but not enough to give us residents too much shoveling! lol I did fiber stuff today, finishing my Nativity. The project sheet for that will be posted to the web page shortly.

Winter's on the way

Here's Billy's Peak. The first snow didn't get down to us, but most of it also got blown off the peak. Strong winds up there. We're supposed to get another storm on Sunday. Okay with me, the wood shed's full, so's the pantry, got my looms and my knitting needles... I'm ready! Happy thanksgiving. Hope you all have something to be thankful for.

Modeling

Here I am modeling my Fox Island vest at the AK retreat in Ashland this weekend. Had a great time. Visited Sis after and today I'm getting ready for company. Not much to post here just yet, tho I could show a photo of the snow, except that most of you can probably see that out your own windows! lol
Stay warm! :-)

Another picture of Autumn

Yes, I know everybody has beauty in their yards this time of year, but this tree is just amazing! It gets more color every day. It's all one tree, from the pale yellows at the bottom to the bright red at the top. I find it just stunning! And it'll still have the red berries after the last leaf falls.
I do think the summer people miss the best part of the year up here in the mountains. The dogwood, wild cherry, plums, apples, as well as the little wild flowers, have all bloomed and gone before they get here and look at the beauty they are missing now that they've all left again. It's our reward for living though the noise and litter of the hot months of summer people.

Overshot

I'm getting this overshot stuff. And once I got the warping straightened out it hasn't gone badly. My left side selvage is a little loose and I can't figure how to tighten it, but it really isn't bad enough to worry. I do think this is
neat, and not as hard as I thought it was going to be at first. Of course it's a very simple pattern but, I still like it. I'm using some multi-colored knit-cro-sheen for warp and the pattern thread is one of those that look like it's knitted, it was in the stash I bought without a label but the colors matched so perfectly that I figured she must have bought them to go together. I expect they are either cotton or some kind if acrylic. Anyway, when it's done I'll try out the fringe twister I just bought.

eeeeiiieeeeagh

Gosh I hate passwords and stuff like that! lol Maybe one day we'll have voice recognition or eye scans or something so that I don't have to remember passwords! lol Well, I did find the correct one at last. Not that I have anything much to say, but I don't like to let the blog sit for a long time so that it looks abandoned.
Today is our little craft club meeting. So little these days that I'm thinking there will just be two of us. Oh well, we can still get a lot of talki... that is, crafting done! I'll take my exchange squares. I've got most of the strips assembled and will put them together and start weaving in yarn ends. Here's the layout, tho I've moved a couple. I think it's going to be pretty.

Then I can get back to weaving hats on the square loom. I just got an announcement that my nephew has had a new baby girl so I want to weave a baby sweater on the 14" square, too. And the ampleknitters retreat in Ashland is barely two weeks away. I'm looking forward to that, too. Hope your week is just busy enough without over doing it!
