We've been waiting for this since before xmas and now that I've planned my first trip up to Sis's since the new year, we finally get it. No water-color painting class in Weaverville today, either. Well, we do need the snow, but Up There on the mountains would have been fine. We could do without it here in the valley! Mother Nature just loves to fool with us! Oh well, I can paint here and we can get by with canned groceries a while, just hope Randy can get home from Redding today! lol California's snow-pack (summer's water supply) was looking a little thin so I guess, all in all, it's a good thing. Happy February everyone!

Visitors

We call these little guys snow birds because they usually show up under the feeders, picking seeds out of the snow. We have no snow this year, but there's been a little sparrow here all winter, living in the old dog house, now used to store flower pots, etc, and I've been tossing seed out here for her. She had company this morning! There were many more than showed in this photo. I added a little bigger one for detail. I've looked them up but keep forgetting who they are. Cori was laying by the door, at the bottom of this picture and Jack was in his house just to the left. They didn't seem to be worried about them. But they'd better not be so brave when the cats are out! I'll have to remember not to put the seed where the cats can hide nearby. They're in today, tho as we have snow predicted. (I'll believe that when I see it!)

Classroom copy.

We copied another artist in a workshop on Wednesday. Mine didn't turn out badly. The scan faded the sky a bit. This is not really my style, tho. I'm working on a local scene now, X your fingers! When I got up to Medford later this week, I'm going to buy some bigger paper. I'm finding this 9x11 pad I have is just too small. It makes for fiddly pictures. But i dunno. Maybe I'm getting a little of it back. I was about to give up on the one still on the pad but walked away. It looked much better when I came back, to either it was my 'vision' of it or the fine art fairies fixed it while I wasn't looking! lol

A view across the lake...

A landscape I did in class. It's taking me awhile to get the hang of this again but I am really enjoying it. I dug out some of my old stuff.. I really hadn't thought it's been THAT long since I painted watercolors! lol Oh well, I'm enjoying myself, anyway, and it's bound to improve.
